Journal Excerpt from:

May 15
Dropped in on Fran at the smoke shop, with
dark chocolate. Was dressed in a style she
called her 'Mickey Mouse' gear, with a red
bow in her hair. Which I'm thinking would
be a good portrait...

Journal excerpts from:

22nd (Thursday)
Taking photos of Fran at Robson Market around noon,
& had tea with her across the street at Blenz
afterwards. Walking along Robson with her discussing
different things including ideas for the next
portraits. Exchanging texts later in the evening
What a unique, special woman she is! Stretched paper
for the portrait

23rd (Friday)
Myle called from her car, who was driving her
mother around doing chores. Described giving blood
samples at the clinic yesterday & how incompetent
the nurse was; & complained her face was breaking
out 'like a pizza'. Sunny evening, with a lovely
cool breeze

24th (Saturday)   [Girl from Manchester, B-Side]
Exchanging texts with Fran this morning/afternoon
Pleasant conversation with a charming Japanese girl
from a prefecture in the 'center' of Japan, somewhere
near Nagoya

30th (Friday)   [Girl from Manchester City, B-side]
Met Fran at Subway this morning. Gave her a few more
prints, & chocolate. Had the usual intriguing discussion
of various things artistic, including the next portrait,
an homage to Woody Allen. Also mentioned that I had an
idea for a large drawing, titled 'The Crucifixtion of
Fertility', which she immediately wanted to be in. What
a special woman she is! Another great game tonight
Blackhawks/Kings from L.A.

31st (Saturday)   [Girl from Manchester, B-side]
Talking to Myle this morning, whose trip to Vegas was a
disaster. She had a terrible migraine, it was gruesomely
hot, she hated the food, the bed was uncomfortable, &
the shopping was nothing special. Text from Fran this
morning, & exchanged texts with Reanne : 'Go LA or NY!'

June
1st (Sunday)   [Girl from Manchester, B-side]
Some nice seventh game OT drama from Chicago, Kings 5/
Hawks 4

2nd (Monday)
Charming text from Fran this morning. Talking to a sleepy
Myle at lunch. Told me her tenant downstairs was moving,
that he was so quiet she never heard him. 'I even tried
eavesdropping, but I can't hear nothin'. Exchanging texts
with Eve, about getting together on Wednesday. Sunny,
warmer than yesterday. Loaned Aarathi the Salman Rushdie
article in Vanity Fair. She was quite charming today
Worked on webpages for the portrait

3rd (Tuesday)

Talking to Bianca at Sears, who was quite cheerful,
despite her arms being covered with sores, du to her
'eating too much seafood'. Exchanged texts with Myle,
on the Skytrain coming back. Met Fran at Subway, & she
came over to see the portrait, which she totally loved
More, she said, than the first one. Getting together
Friday to take shots for the 'Homage to Woody Allen'
Sunny, warm

4th (Wednesday)
Met Eve at Robson Market & spent the afternoon walking
about. Stopped here first, ate at White Spot on Drake,
spent an hour or so at Art Knapps buying plants, holders
& a cactus, and then found a copy of 'Bullets Over
Broadway' on Granville. Showing Aarathi the first portrait
of Fran. She recognized her as a customer, saying how
pleasant she always is
