The Empress was charming &
intriguing this morning. Thinks
I should concentrate on my 'theme'
drawings, that portraits were
boring. She liked 'Wedding Portrait'
Told me 'Our Precious Science'
she can't even bear to look at
Felt as good as I've felt in
weeks. No photos though until
the new moon
28th (Tuesday) [Japanese Gothic]
Suggested doing a portrait of
Agnes, who said sure, later next
month. Saw 'Joyuex Noel' with
Heather, at Fifth Ave. The ticket
girl was amused that I wasn't
sure how to pronounce 'Joyeaux'
She said, 'You have a French
name, you should be able to
speak French.' Nice talk with
Blondie, who was really sweet
'I need your advice about
something.' Told me she'd be
happy to, give me advice

Blondie liked 'A Portrait of
Beautiful' best. Said to her 'It's
taken me five years to realize

Talked to Lidi for the first time
in weeks. Described 'Gothic' to
her. Looking forward to seeing a
photo of the outline, & wants me
to drop it off at the counter if
she's not there. Gave Eliza two
more Egyptian pastels. Told me
she likes '7-Up' & 'Evian'. A
spring shower on Main St, dark
clouds, light on the southern
horizon

Talked to Reena, just after noon,
for the first time in weeks. She
was VERY beautiful, as always
Was quite interested in seeing
'Japanese Gothic', & hearing
about 'Meltdown'

was CHARMING. Told her she thinks
like an artist. 'I AM an artist.'
'I know.' Told me she has a
friend exactly like her, 'except
she's white.' I suggested she
could be in 'Meltdown'. 'I want
to be in that one,' she replied

Met Reena as she was coming out
of the elevator. She had a thick
book in her hands, 'Indian
Literature'. Describing the
Jung Exh at VAG, which seemed to
amuse her

Myle wearing the blue shirt she
hates so much. Cold & pouring
rain, lunch with Heather at Truck
Stop Cafe, Clark Drive. Some nice
eye contact with a girl sitting
at one of the booths. Extremely
beautiful girl from Shikoku,
working at the Venus Grill on
Bute. Message on the machine
from Shari: 'Great, the machine's
on. That means tomorrow I don't
have to go trotting through the
rain to try & find you oops! I
can't always cause Eliza's home
So where are you? Call me back
tonight. Bye.' Later on she
weighed in on the Myle
dilemma
14th (Friday)
Showed Minori the outline, which
she loved. Told me I choose all
the right Japanese signs, that
the drawing was great just as an
outline, that it was the best
thing I'd done that she'd seen,
& that she was proud of me

15th (Saturday)
A latte for Minori, hot water
for Myle. Myle has a hundred
dollar bet with co-worker,
about drinking 4 litres of
milk out of the jug. Cold, wet
day
16th (Sunday)
Easter ham, potatoes, &
carrots at 406 with Shari
& Eliza. Met dog #5,
chewing on my foot. Drinking
gin & cream soda out of
glass measuring cup. Lovely
sky, wet & blue at once

I had to say, but the moment
wasn't quite right. Should

Showed Renna the outline for

one of the prints. Same with
Lidi, who has a nasty little
silver ring below her bottom
lip. Liked what both had to
say

was soft & comfortable

Myle with a bad migraine,

best this morning. Showed her

found it hard to look at, &
backed off, laughing. Just
after lunch, gave Myle the

off gentle waves on Snug Cove,
& sketched an outline of
Vancouver Island. Amused when
I told her it looked like a
phallic symbol. - Tonight
feels as if I've reached a
level of confidence, belief,
or something

leaving I asked her name
'I'm nobody,' she replied
'Call me "nobody"'. Then
she shook my hand, thanked
me, & walked away

Told Myle what I had to
tell her. She was startled;
then by degrees, a combination
of confusion, embarrassment,
& indifference. Her final
words to me - 'I think your

invited me to the Buddhist
Church. - Spent the
afternoon with Heather
Hamburger & fries at DQ,
Hastings. Good conversation,
old memories. Had some fun
at the Value Village,
trying on some 'colorful'
shirts. H buying a
galvanized bucket at
Hastings & Clark. Lovely
girl at Starbucks, Powell
in a mint-green t-shirt
More good conversation,
listening to the trains,
& overlooking the harbour
Stopped at Heather's for
some boxes, & then walked
home. Grey skies. Cold -
'Last words, last words -
out!'
31st (Wednesday)
Minori came over around
noon to see the drawing
'I love it!' she exclaimed,
more than once. Mentioned
how much she liked the hair
Walked to Sears with her,
talking about ideas for
'Meltdown' & talked about
her 'former life' in New
York, committed suicide
when she was 27, because
someone left her. She
looked immaculate in a
black jacket & military
style purse. Myle saw me as
soon as I came through the
door, & didn't take her eyes
off us...
Is it possible I love them both?
