5th (Wednesday)
Showed Ann more drawings. Prefered
'Precious Science' & 'Destiny',
more than 'Gentle Thought' &
'Urban Desert', though she said
she like them all. Showed her the
seahorse pastels, which seemed to
intrigue her, so I gave her
'Stellar Nursery'. Developing
idea for 'The Burial of Karl Marx'
Rubber rat 'buried' in a Mcd's
brown paper bag

6th (Thursday)   [Portrait of Persia]

7th (Friday)   [Portrait of Persia]
This morning along Hastings the
most gentle snowfall, with the
sun nearly shining

8th (Saturday)   [Portrait of Persia]
Wet snow falling tonight

9th (Sunday)   [Portrait of Persia]
Listening to Glenn Gould playing
piano compositions from the 17th
century this evening, while
working on the portrait

10th (Monday)   [Portrait of Persia]

11th (Tuesday)   [Portrait of Persia]

12th (Wednesday)   [Portrait of Persia]
Heavy rain, cold gusts of wind
Talked to 'drummer girl' for the
first time in months, who's
playing with two bands, & taking
courses at UBC

13th (Thursday)   [Portrait of Persia]
Showed more drawings to Ann
Liked 'Autumn Fuji' of the
Japanese pastels. Look forward
to talking with her next week
More heavy rain

14th (Friday)   [Portrait of Persia]
Talking with Heather, who wants
to see the 'Hitler's Secretary'
documentary. Watched 'Bladerunner'
Asked if she could keep it awhile
longer, to watch it again

15th (Saturday)   [Portrait of Persia]
A charming girl at Shoppers,
Davie, whose name is Angela
Watched Heather's video of 'Tom
Jones', which was enjoyable

16th (Sunday)
A few finishing touches on the
portrait. A little more banter
with the girl at Shoppers,
who has a pin in her tongue

17th (Monday)
Saw 'Lord of the Rings' at
Capital 6, with Shari, who
hardly stopped talking for
three hours. Had chicken &
rice at this tiny place on
Robson. Talked to Roula
this morning for the first
time in a few weeks. She
was her usual charming self
A few more touch ups in the
the portrait

18th (Tuesday)
Showed Anne, & an interesting
woman who works with her,
more art. Anne is intrigued
by seahorses. Her mother once
brought her one back from the
tropics, which she wrapped in
tissue & kept for years

19th (Wednesday)
Anne wrote 'The Beautiful
Wheels of Time' on the
seahorse, & had a nice
conversation with her

20th (Thursday)
Saw 'Blind Spot' at
Tinseltown. Some banter with
the girl at Shoppers, who
apparently does abstract art,
but was a little shy to
discuss it. Has a pleasant
personality. Buying a white
shirt at thrift store at
Davie & Seymour. A chubby
woman with a Russian accent,
from Moscow, asks, 'Are you
Jewish? - You look either
Jewish or French.'
Pleasant girl in a light
blue pullover, with a hood,
smiles & says 'Hi' as she
jogs past, on Granville
Bridge
