10th (Sunday)
Cooler weather

11th (Monday)   [Portrait of Melinda]
Gave Laura photos of 'Karl Marx'
Admired the photos of August
Sander, & wrote down 2 movies
on a piece of paper, saying,
facetiously, not to come back
until I'd seen at least one
Myle telling me she's the #1
sales rep at the downtown
store. Was going for lunch
for lunch at the Hyatt or
Bayshore. Her father's feeling
better, she told me, & her
mother said the hat's
somewhere in the garage
Some light rain showers, the
sun coming in & out

12th (Tuesday)   [Portrait of Melinda]
UBC & Japanese gardens with
Shari & Eliza on a perfect
afternoon. Stopped at Swiss
Chalet on Broadway, coming back

13th (Wednesday)   [Portrait of Melinda]
First ride to Spanish Banks,
this evening

14th (Thursday)   [Portait of Melinda]
Seymour Room cool & serene this
evening. Talked to Melinda,
Laura, & Myle on the way home

Another sweltering day. Holly
looked foxy in gold & black

Barbecue at...

18th (Monday)   [Portrait of Melinda]
Girl from Chile, on Robson
this morning, trying to sign
people up to Greenpeace
Interesting girl to talk to,
I was enchanted with her
dark, mysterious South
American eyes

19th (Tuesday)   [Portrait of Melinda]
Explained the expression 'On
the Mend' to Hye-Ryeon, who

wrote it down on a napkin

20th (Wednesday)   [Portrait of Melinda]
Nice talk with Ann, her
last day is Tuesday

21st (Thursday)   [Portrait of Melinda]
Seymour Room this evening, a
lovely sky with long columns
of grey/white clould moving
slowly across the sky. A
subdued light across
downtown, with Mt Baker
aglow by itself in the
setting sun. Met Audrey at
Howe & Drake, who was with
her niece Mary, a charming
English lady. Walked with
them to Bosmann Motor Inn

22nd (Friday)
Susan called tonight

25th (Monday)
Said goodbye to Anne, &
then talked to Laura for
half an hour. Wants me to
'get off my ass' as far
as exhibiting is
concerned. Talked to
Heather about literature
& movies, just inside
the door, for what must
have been an hour
Encouraged her to see
'Papillon' on video

27th (Wednesday)
On the bus to UBC a
Brazilian girl with a
wonderful Portuguese
accent. Said her name was
Maria Fernande. 2 messages
on the machine: invitation
from Susan for a 4 hr
cruise around the harbor,
& Shari about a $10,000
bill from Ladner Downs
Passed Myle on Georgia,
who saw me & waved

30th (Saturday)
Talking to Shari on the phone
Told her I liked drinking
sherry because it reminded me
of her. 'Are you drunk? she asked
