afternoon with the girl at Opus, whose
name is Persia. Happy that I remembered
the code numbers. 'You're an angel,'
she said. Developing an idea for a
large drawing (Roula?) Possibly holding
a dead rat by the tail

Another enjoyable chat with Persia, who
designs her own jewelry & cooks Thai food
Long talk with Heather, in the basement,
who thought 'Bananas' was 'dated'. Nice
winter sunset at 2nd Beach & English Bay
4th (Tuesday) [Study in Greys & Red]

New girl at the deli an intriguing Korean
Her name is Hye Ryeon Kim, from the same
province as Nayeon. More 'amazing flow of
language' from Shari, in the flourescent
light of the smoking room of 2North, a
nice girl sitting on the other side of
the window, who left abruptly when the
'amazing flow' got a little harsh

6th (Thursday) [Study in Greys & Red]
Gave Roula photos of the last portrait,
which is her favourite. Wonderful
conversation with her, the best yet
Told me she's taking an interior
decorating course at BCIT. I suggested
the idea to her a few weeks ago
7th (Friday) [Study in Greys & Red]
As Shari uttered the Lords Prayer to
an Englishman hooked up to various
tubes on wheels, Heather steps off the
elevator in front of us. S & H talking
about memories of Saskatoon. Later,
Shari says, 'You could do worse,' &
suggests I should marry her

Had some bad luck, & showed some bad
judgement too, with Becky. Shari acting
bizarre at 2North, but talked to the girl
'with the gentle smile', who does art
work & poetry, her name is Cynthia Todd

Lovely winter sunset at 2nd Beach. Foggy

Showed Persia the Japanese pastels. A
good response. Talked to Heather in the
hallway this morning, & then saw 'The
Quiet American', which was awful. Shari
was absent from 2North, but Jane, the
English girl was charming. S says she
was a heroin addict. This morning Roula
had a wonderful little 'imitation' of a
dying jellyfish
14th (Friday)
Had a junk food hangover today. Wrote a
letter to Nayeon today. This evening
Shari tells me how she's going to 'help
me out' with Heather, something about us
all having dinner together
Showed Persia a few more drawings,
'Factory Girl' & a portrait of Jing
Yuan
16th (Sunday)
Shari telling me how she met an
old friend, someone named Tim Berlin,
on the bus on Valentines Day, & their
dinner at Raincity Grill, which she
paid for
17th (Monday)
Showed Roula the portrait in the
stairway gallery. Said 'I like this
one best,' but then thought she
might like the previous one as much
Back inside, showed the portrait to
her co-worker, a wonderful woman
named Melinda, who's a joy to talk
to. Sent e-mail to Michie, &
researching the next couple of
drawing, with Greek themes
