Saw 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' at Park
Theatre. Before the show started, girl working
there stood up front & apologized for the
heater breaking down & offered free coffee &
a refund for anyone who couldn't handle the
chill. Show was excellent. Loaned Maria the
'Cezanne' book, with two pieces of cheesecake
Walked Betty from Georgia to Valentino's on
Robson. Helped me to decide what to use for
the portrait

Sunny, mild with a light mist across the
landscape

Finally talked to the girl at Eaton's. Her
name is Myle. Was surprised I pronounced her
name correctly. Eating chips & drinking
orange juice with Betty at the Georgia store

1st (Thursday)
Talked to Myle again, showed her some more
drawings, & then asked if she'd consider
being in a portrait. Good response. A couple
of hours at the Submarine, UBC & then walk
along Spanish Banks. Dark, overcast, the
tide extremely low. Shimmering lights of
downtown reflected in the shallow pools of
water across the sandbars. Silhouettes of
two dogs, running through the surf, chasing
seagulls into the air. Great hockey game
downtown tonight, Canucks/Avalanche
2nd (Friday)
Developing idea for 'The Destiny of Art'
Major change in the woman, more appropriate
to the mood of the drawing. This evening
putting together idea for the next 'Egyptian'
pastel
