22nd (Saturday)
First visit to Richmond Library in
years. Sun shining at 5 o'clock
with a cool, fresh wind at
Westminster Hwy & Three Road
Idea for 'Spirits of an Ancient Sea',
changed this morning
26th (Wednesday) [Visions
of an Ancient Sea]
Persia looked good this afternoon,
wearing a black scarf with white
polka dots, loops of dark hair
coming out from underneath. Told
her she had the 'gypsy look'
Susan phoned this afternoon,
with sad news about her mom
27th (Thursday) [Visions
of an Ancient Sea]
Showed the portrait to Persia,
on the floor of the cash
register. Very happy with it,
remarked two or three times
about getting the nose perfect
Patted me on the arm, as she
noticed how I put in the line
she has running along her
right cheekbone. Showed the
portrait to Hye Ryeon, who is
back from Korea. Learned that
her boyfriend is Mexican (?!)
This evening gave Roula
photo of the last portrait
Described some of her
ambitions, & her recipe for
chicken soup. Wonderfully
charming as usual. At Eaton's,
the 'interesting' woman,
whose name is Laura, was in
Described a dream she had,
& conversation in general,
which was very intriguing
28th (Friday) [Visions
of an Ancient Sea]
Met Heather of Starbucks, Howe
Discussed 'Blind Spot', &
disagreed on whether Hitler
loved the German people or not
Told me that after the movie an
old German woman 'attacked' her,
demanding to know what someone
her age could possibly get from
that movie. Talked, & talked,
(& talked) to Shari on the
phone, who had talked to
Cynthia earlier, & promised to
have coffee with her at Blenz
if 'she doesn't pee herself
there again.'
29th (Saturday) [Visions
of an Ancient Sea]
30th (Sunday) [Visions
of an Ancient Sea]
Showed Lani the 'Smirnoff'
pastel, at the Albernia store
Talked about giving me a
cassette of some of her work,
which she described as being
'fairy' music. Dark, raining
steadily all day
31st (Monday) [Visions
of an Ancient Sea]
Gave Ann a photo of 'Seahorse'
pastel. She was charming this
morning, & has a new hairstyle
streaked with red & blonde
Told me it was 'for summer'
April
1st (Tuesday)
Cold, windy, with alternating
showers & sunshine. Reading
Patton biography
2nd (Wednesday)
Showed Ann the 'Ancient Sea'
pastel. She's reluctant to be
in a portrait, which I'd
expected. She would have given
in if I'd pressed her, but I
didn't. Another day of sun &
rain, this evening it's
raining heavily
