Audrey. Mary staying at the Travel
Lodge on Drake. Showed me her room,
which has a curtained window onto
the hallway

Showed Sarah, who was wearing a
grey/green wrap, the portrait
The pendant hanging around her
neck means 'to live' in Hebrew, she
told me. Email from Nayeon, who is
sending me a 'traditional Korean

Tea this morning with Mary &
Audrey, while outside a light
snow softly fell

Heavy snow in the forest at the
west end of the Fraser Hwy, a
lovely winter picture

Snow flurries tonight, a little
below zero

Hye Ryeon explaining what a
traditional Korean sock is. She's
sent her niece packing to West
Van. Sick of having to cook for
her. Sheets of ice on the West
End streets, a large block of ice
in the water pitcher in the fridge

Taking shots of Sarah in the
frigid cold. Told me she knows
where she wants to hang the

The snowstorm hits. Met Laura at
Sears. Looked good with a black
shawl around her shoulders
Reading 'Kerouac' bio at Robson
Market, & then walked along Lost
Lagoon as the snow fell. Covered
in ice, the trees on the far
side a grey blur, the atmosphere
was surreal

7th (Wednesday)
Dark, heavy rain, oceans of
slush. Susan called this afternoon
Talked to Sarah, who was charming
Told me how - she was too pose...

9th (Friday)
Discussed with Shab, who talked
about pain in her knees & her
back, & that her doctor said she
had a serious shortage of iron
For all that she still managed to
look beautiful. Card from Nayeon,
in a dark blue envelope

22nd (Thursday)
Talked to Roula & Melinda
tonight, then walked through
a light rain to Blenz on
Denman. Showed Japanese girl
the 'seahorse' pastel, &
explained I needed some
Japanese written on it

morning, discussed doing a
portrait with a Spanish hat
Told me her general
condition is something she
calls 'dorkiness'

morning that confirmed my

establishment. She did look
great in a dark silver
colour, satin blouse
