Myle tells me she doesn't have
time to watch 'Survivor', she's
too busy watching Hong Kong soap
operas
4th (Wednesday) [NBC Color TV Pastel]
Nice to see the rainwater flowing
down the glass roof of Robson
Market. New girl at ABC, with red
hair & a striking face
5th (Thursday) [NBC Color TV Pastel]
Myle tried on the hat, with
reluctance. She looked great, though
it'll be a challenge to get the
photos. Intriguing interview with
Cartier-Bresson, who died today
6th (Friday) [NBC Color TV Pastel]
Gave Asha photos of the portrait
Her hair was wet with rain. Name

afternoon, wet grass &
sunshine
8th (Sunday) [NBC Color TV Pastel]
Tennis courts, Lost Lagoon:
eating ice cream, admiring the
dragon clouds above the trees,
leaves becoming distinctly
coloured autumn, sparkling
sunshine & the cool breeze off
the water. Watched 'Papillon'
for the first time since I
saw it at the Orpheum, over 30
years ago
9th (Monday) [NBC Color TV Pastel]
Heat back with a vengeance. Asha

This afternoon, a warm blue sky
filled with dragon clouds
13th (Friday) [NBC Color TV Pastel]

the bathroom badly, & was having
her period too
14th (Saturday) [NBC Color TV Pastel]
Talked to Shari on the phone for
about an hour. Susan called to

History. Eryn was working, but

her
15th (Sunday) [NBC Color TV Pastel]
PGA golf won by Singh, in a
playoff, at Whistling Straits
Another smoking hot day. Bought
a styrofoam head on Burnaby. The
guy asked what I was going to use
it for. I told him, 'Portrait of
a Styrofoam Head'. He laughed, &
told me the head had been quite
quiet lately. I asked if it had
a name. An older lady sitting on
a lawn chair nearby suggested
'Penlelope'
17th (Tuesday)
Thunder this morning, but no rain
Cooler in the library, & at the
Barn Cafe
18th (Wednesday)
Bought Myle a slurpee. She's
warming up to the hat portrait
idea, asking if she could have
a small version that she could
carry around. Met Laura, who
recommended a gallery at
Tinseltown, where she's having
a fashion show in Sept. Asha
nervous about being photographed,
that it feels like 'someone
looking into my soul.' Something
the Africans used to tell her
text messages Richard : [Fran]
Sept 25 2024
So I came across this
small pastel, just this
morning, that i did 20
years ago The idea
was brilliant, the
execution was pathetic
I'm thinking i would
like to do this properly
as a large format I
respect your opinion on
art more than anyone
Do you think i should redo
it?
[... I love Separate but
Equal, you've shown me
this pic before. I love it,
why do you think the
execution is bad?]
Sept 26
About that drawing:
the girls could've been
drawn better, but
mainly I want that
1950's store window to
feel more realistic, like
a Norman Rockwell
painting Anyway, I'll
probably never get
around to redoing it
but thanks for loving it!
Ur the best!
Sept 27
If you're not happy with
it and you have a
different vision redo it,
that's what I do with
songs all the time
Sometimes our first
attempt is just the
stepping stone to the
full vision. I've got
songs from 15 years
ago that I am remaking
