email messages   Richard : [Fran]

Hi Fran! I'm thinking these prints won't be quite as controversial as the
Darkly Satanic Mills. But one thing they do have in common
is a sort of primeval emotion being expressed

I was inspired to do these from watching 'Ziggy Stardust & the
Spiders from Mars   The Motion Picture', which is a film of
Bowie's last concert as Ziggy Stardust, at the Hammersmith
Odeon. I don't watch a lot of concerts. Actually, except for the
Beatles rooftop concert, I haven't watched any. But I saw this
one on the shelf at the library, and I thought I'd check it out,
and it turned out to be amazing! The music, the energy of the crowd, and
the
way D.A. Pennebaker filmed it all, I thought was fabulous!
and I wanted to try to capture the emotion of the whole scene
in a series of prints

The images I photographed right off the tv screen. Which was
totally exasperating, trying to shoot a face that's only there
for a fraction of a second :)

Anyway, I'll be watching it yet again tonight, and you'll be
receiving your box set of this series too!

Hard to believe this concert happened almost half a century
ago

[Richard this collection is so fabulous!! I can't imagine how difficult it is to
capture the picture from a moving screen.

Looking thru the pictures reminded me of an acid trip I once took, very
vibrant and trippy :)

I'm going thru the internet to find a copy of this concert. Once again you
have blown me away!

I'm sure many Bowie fans would love to get their hands on this
collection!!!]
