on 4th Ave, & then a small cafe on Main
St. Group performing live through loud
amps on the ceiling. Did a version of
'She Loves You'

Russian girl's name is Olya. Showed her
slides of 'Autumn Fuji'. Told her she'd
be perfect for the next drawing
Described it a little, & she replied
she'd like to, & almost seemed
enthusiastic. Told her that when I
originally conceived it the idea I
had in mind was using an East European
woman

Listening to Risako describing how her
apt was broken into. Finished her
description at the right moment. As I
was leaving Robson Market saw London
Drugs girl walking up Robson. Spent 2
hrs at Bojangles, talking about art,
music, literature, etc. Told me she'd
written an opera about 'The Odyssey'
Sitting by a little wooden table
beside the window, with the fireplace
behind. Impressed with her remarks
about the drawings. Name is Lani

Describing my idea for a statue at the
Burnaby shoal to Betty. She
comprehended the image right away. Had
a good time sketching, discussing, &
posing as the concept developed. Diane
phones at 9 o'clock. 'Do you feel like
going for a walk?' 'What, tonight?'
So, we walked down Davie to English
Bay, stopping to look at books & have
ice cream at Miriams

Met Peggy at Robson Market. Showed her
photos of all the large drawings,
many of which she'd seen. Picked
'Factory Girl'. First person to
mention the hand in 'Wedding Portrait'
Carrying a cell phone in her pocket
in case movie producers needed film
over the weekend. Met girl at
Japanese card shop in Denman Mall
Showed her 2 slides of Mt Fuji
pastels. Especially liked winter
version. Picked 'Odyssey' from the
others. Her name is Yuki. Earlier,
when I showed Ho Im slide of
'Winter Fuji', she replied, 'You
didn't do this.' 'What?' 'You didn't
do this.'

At ABC, Jenn came out from the back,
with a little headphone setup. 'Hi
Richard.'

Ho Im story about her 3 pet rabbits
that her mother cooked for dinner

Finishing touches on the pastel this
afternoon. Sunny, spring-like
afternoon. Walked to 2nd Beach

Nice little chat with Hanna at
Fresgo's, who was sitting at one
of the large round tables having
breakfast. At UBC found the old
toilet I was looking for, in a
large cardboard box. Beautiful girl
on the bus, with large round blue
eyes, blonde hair tied back in a
knot, & hands that looked anything
but idle, as though they'd done
some modeling in clay
