How do you feel about the music
of Led Zeppelin?
... I like 'Stairway to Heaven'
Susan
They're like the biggest rock band...
(don't write this down!)
It's just not the music I listen too
Silvia
I'm not really familiar with them
but they sound like something really cool
Moi

...So the idea for the other collage came
to me while I was editing photographs from
2012. The shot was of a girl walking along
Davie (the same block & side of the street
as Cottonmouth) and when I came across it
awhile ago, she struck me as giving off
pure Zeppelin vibes (definitely not a
cinnamon girl) So I put this little collage
together as a sort of homage to Led Zeppelin
Speaking of Zeppelin, did you know their
fourth ever appearance in North America was
at the Pacific Coliseum as the opening act
for Vanilla Fudge? At that time they were
basically unknown.
And in August 1971 they opened their North
American tour in Vancouver. Which was the
very first time anyone in America heard the
song 'Stairway to Heaven'. They had performed the
song in concert in Europe a few weeks before, but
it was another four months before it
would be released worldwide on Zeppelin IV
Which I thought was pretty cool, considering
that just a couple of weeks before, as a little
seventeen year old, I had taken probably the most
spiritual photograph of my life. Not only that,
just a few weeks before I took that picture, Jim
Morrison had died... a whole lotta shit, good and
bad, was going down back then
Anyway, I have another few weeks of editing
photographs, and then I'm looking forward to
getting started work on the large format drawings

[The Led Zeppelin
portrait is seriously
badass, I love it
Stairway to heaven is
one of my all time
faves and one of the
first songs I learnt on
my guitar]
