idea, called 'Genesis'. Also giving
a lot of thought to a large format
drawing, an idea developed at the
same time as 'Wedding Portrait' &
that I'd described once to Lisa on
the phone
23rd (Friday)
Nice talk with 'Rosseau Girl'. Showed
her the 'Dylan' pastel, & was surprised
how well she seemed to like it. The
girl has taste AND style
26th (Monday)
Walking through the downtown with Shari
on a hot summer evening. Eating a small
pie with bits of chicken in it, at
Bread Garden, Bute. Someone drives past
in a Jaguar. Shari: 'He's driving a
Jaguar, he's wearing an expensive suit,
- and he's picking his nose.'
27th (Tuesday) [Genesis]
Showed Filipino woman (not Janet)
photos of large drawings. Kept asking
how much I'd charge for one. Chose
'U.F.'
28th (Wednesday) [Genesis]
Another HOT day. Lovely summer evening
View of the mtns from Skytrain was
ethereal. Showed Iranian girl at Opus
some of the drawings. Is an artist
herself, working in a variety of
mediums & styles
29th (Thursday) [Genesis]
Good 'think' session at Koerner this
afternoon. Developed strong idea for
next lifesize, tentative title, 'The
Destiny of Art'; & what line of math
work I'd follow the next few weeks
(Distended log spirals & related
spirals)

Finished drawing off around 11:30

Risako complaining about the guy she
works with; Yun telling me that
China has only one time zone, &
because a button is missing from her
shirt, she'll sell it a little
cheaper; said to 'Taiwan' girl that
I could use her shirt in a drawing
(Destiny of Art), she laughed &
said okay. Overcast & a little
humid
