31st (Friday)
Showed Bianca the photo, who also
prefered the 'looking up' shot. Sitting
outside of Starbucks with Jackie as she
smoked a cigarette. Liked the idea I
suggested of using the outline of
perfume bottles as the background for
the portrait. Her last name is Lorenzo
Assuming she is, or was, married to
some Italian
September
1st (Saturday) [Girl from Hokkaido]
Cut out a recipe from Trinidad & gave it
to Reanne, who was quite excited to get
it. Told me it was a dish served at her
wedding. 'Where & when did you find this?'
she asked

The Anna Sui chairs Minori used to sit
on, for sale on the 5th floor for $200

4th (Tuesday)
Lovely autumn day in the Valley. Text
from Myle tonight : 'Have fun in
Saturna Island tomorrow!'
5th (Wednesday)
Saturna Island
A lovely sky today above the islands
Changing light through the forest,
the big white clouds racing high above
the trees at a wicked pace, the woods
radiant with sunshine at the top, two
big ravens circling above, a freighter
sailing through the sparkling water
far below. Hawks & ravens rising
slowly into a sky streaked with pastel
blues & greys, reflected in the water
A large freighter loaded with
containers, a small feighter, ahead
of it, making the wide turn into the
passage together
6th (Thursday) [Girl from Hokkaido]
7th (Friday) [Girl from Hokkaido]
Clear & quite warm in the sun
8th (Saturday) [Girl from Hokkaido]
Partly overcast, mentioning to Janis on
Burnaby about how muggy it was. She
laughed, & told me to stop complaining
9th (Sunday) [Girl from Hokkaido]
Talking to Eve for the first time in a
month. Looked good in a new/old light blue
London Drugs shirt. Said she was considering
a drawing project. Thought $200 was too
expensive for the Anna Sui chair. 'Think of
all the people who have sat on it,' she
said. 'You'd need to disinfect it.' Light
rain 2nite
10th (Monday) [Girl from Hokkaido]
Met Reanne on the concourse of the Canada
Line. Encouraged her to find the seahorse
at the furniture store. Like Eve, she
thinks $200 dollars is too much for the
chairs. U.S. Open tennis final this
afternoon
11th (Tuesday) [Girl from Hokkaido]
Myle weighed in on the Anna Sui chairs by
text, 'No, don't buy it.' Ice water for
Reanne, who was standing with three women
And I suddenly realized one of them was
Yana. Didn't get a chance to talk today,
but resolved to speak to her soon. Walking
across Granville Bridge in utterly perfect
weather, a gentle warm sun, a gentle cool
breeze
12th (Wednesday) [Girl from Hokkaido]
Talked to Myle, who told me she had to eat a
lot of beef, which was somewhow supposed to
help with a bleeding problem
13th (Thursday) [Girl from Hokkaido]
Showing Reanne a photo of the first atomic
bomb. 'What is THAT,' she asked, 'a gigantic
pear?'
14th (Friday) [Girl from Hokkaido]
The clear skies continue, a little warmer
than yesterday
15th (Saturday) [Girl from Hokkaido]
Talked briefly with Nguyet Dang this morning,
who looked pretty & was quite charming. Text
from Myle, 'Walked by Sears this morning...
so sad.'
16th (Sunday)
Reanne starting drawings of 'Scorpion of the
Womb'. The idea she described was very
impressive. Had a good discussion with her
about the NHLPA & the NFL. Both of us
struggling to remember the name of the
Ravens MLB. It popped into my head on the
way home & I texted her. 'Yes!!!' she texted
back. Eve describing a Japanese book store
in Seattle she visited, with a unique
selection of art supplies
