19th (Wednesday)
Loaned Maggie the Tusk CD, & gave her one
of the Guerlain perfumes. She gave me a
container of some kind of Chinese
casserole with white rice, that she made
for Myle's trip to Winnipeg. Visited Ady
and Tofik this afternoon at their home on
64th Ave. Tofik waiting on the front
steps, holding the baby in the lovely
warm sunshine. Good conversation, with
beer, soupm and something described as
'fried wheat', which was a perfect
snack food
20th (Thursday) [Portrait of Belraj

Myle sitting beside a little heater this
morning. Leaving for Winnipeg this
afternoon, with her pillow & blanket that
she squeezes into a vacuum pack. Bought
her a croissant & hot water with seven
seconds of honey. Leaving the store it
was extremely dark, with heavy rain. Late
this afternoon the autumn sun came out at
Nicola & Davie, for a minute or two,
from behind black clouds & bare, wintry
branches. English Bay in a lovely soft
haze

which was a welcome surprise. Walking down

Myle back from Winnipeg, where it was -16C
Early this evening brought her a salad roll
& shake from Joyeaux, & a Japadog from
Burrard & Smithe. Her name was Ami, from
Hiroshima. 'You heard of?' she asked. Gave
her a card, & she seemed almost excited to
see the 'Fuji pastels'. Watched 'Making of
the Dark Side of the Moon', & then down
the Rabbit Hole

Maggie looked good this morning, quite
elegant in black. Met her as she was trying
on fur-lined gloves. Bit of a winter chill
in the air

Enjoyable banter with Myle. 'You're going
to spoil me,' she said, refering to Tuesday
Trying to decide if she would buy a small
laptop. Told me Agnes brings one to work to
watch Hong Kong soap operas

Pure November, dark, heavy rain all day
Myle wearing rubber gloves, cleaning glass
shelves in the counter, 'supervised' by
Cindy. Buying her laptop tonight

Coming in and out of the rain, a glimpse of
a pretty Oriental face on the other side of
the glass. Coming through the door I heard
her say, 'Hi!' The girl from 714...

1st (Monday)
Myle telling all about what happened on
Saturday, with the bladder infection,
hospital adventure. Webpage with Belraj
portrait ready to upload. Wondering if I
should wait until I show it to her first
2nd (Tuesday)
Website work. Used style sheets for the
first time. Maggie showing me photos of
her in New York, Shanghai, Grand Canyon,
Niagara Falls, Hong Kong, & Minnesota
