Gave Reanne some candy & squares in a small
paper bag. Walking along Howe in the gentle Nov

Yankees win World Series tonight. Missed having
break with Natalie, who went with an Oriental
girl, who is strikingly beautiful. I'd LOVE to
do a portrait of her. Start working on it
tomorrow. Nat said she'd bring me homemade
chicken soup. Myle off sick. Cindy & I both
worried about the drugs she takes. Met Akiko
downstairs at HMV, who spent 2 weeks in Japan,
3 in Taiwan, & just returned from Quebec City

Lonsdale Quay late this afternoon. Dark, rain,

Myle with a bad migraine. No appetite at all
except for pickles. Told me she couldn't eat
right away because, 'I have to wait for my
pickle to defrost.' Long talk with Febe this
morning, who described her experience at a
Yaletown club, the climate in Hong Kong, & how
to order a Coke in Chinese

First visit to the airport in 4 years
Upstairs at the food fair, a perfect space
to meditate in the soft light, setting sun &

gala today. Natalie telling me Crash continued

Describing the new drawing to Reanne, who likes
Enya. Told her to listen to 'Caribbean Blue', which
she hasn't heard. Told me the 'Caribbean Cure' for
a sore throat. Myle 300 short of the goal. Brought
her pineapple, grapefruit, & small tomatoes. 'The
Queen must eat.' Gave me a box of seaweed biscuits

Natalie described her relatives in Ottawa, at the
'underground' Starbucks, who she mostly dismissed
as 'losers'. Love it when she speaks French. Phoned
Myle in the afternoon

Lovely little lunch with Myle on Robson, near
Seymour. Soup, lamb, rice, dumplings & tea,
that she ordered in Chinese. Felt quite
comfortable with her, & she looked lovely in black
Waiting to cross the street she stood right behind
me, shielding herself from the wind, which I
thought was charming. How special is SHE?

Gave Febe a photo of 'Crucified Artist'. Telling
me how they give directions in Hong Kong
Describing the latest drawing to her, & later in
the afternoon to Lani. Who is looking forward to
showing it to her brother-in-law, who loves Coke
stuff, & is religious too, she tells me

Showing Yajing my damaged umbrella, I pulled
off a broken piece, opened it up & it wasn't too
bad. 'Continue use,' she said to me. HEAVY rain
all day

Co-worker a charming Oriental girl, I think her name
is Cindy. Heavy rain this afternoon & evening. Baeta
sorting veggies at the back of the store, looked good
in a woolen hat & long braids hanging down in front
of her apron. Thought it would make a nice portrait,
I told her. Loaned Yajing 'Vicki Cristina'. Talking to
Vesna

Breakfast sandwich at Tim Hortons with Natalie

'I called you this morning,' said Myle, as I walked up
to the counter. Was wondering if I was coming or not, &
told me it was Natalie's birthday. Bought her pineapple,
grapefruit, a strawberry & a grape. Bright flashes of
lightening in the southern sky around 5 o'clock, heavy
rain whipped into shallow waves by a strong wind along
Burrard
21st (Saturday) [The Father / The Son / The Holy Ghost]
Myle not at work when I got there. Called her later &
she told me she was sick to the stomach. Threw up when
she tried to eat a pickle. Talking to Febe: waved to
Cindy: a pleasant short chat with Reanne. She
remembered the name of the drawing, said it was 'such
a good idea,' & recommended Coke Zero to me
22nd (Sunday)
Vesna came over tonight to watch 'Whatever Works'
23rd (Monday)
Myle telling me her best subject in high school was
physcology, & gym. Told me she was good interpreting
people. I asked how she would interpret Minori. She
paused a second, & said, 'I would interpret her as
one of a kind.' Gave Reanne Caribbean Blue. This
afternoon & evening doing Strata Work, & then sent
Natalie a birthday email
26th (Thursday)
Showed Myle a couple of baby pictures. Seemed to like
them, & thought I had large eyes. Gave me a cup of
soup she made from pork bones, carrots, & corn
Visited Ady for a few minutes at Smithe & Beatty

27th (Friday)
Showed Natalie the 'Coke' pastel. 'I don't get it,'
she said. Showed it to Reanne awhile later, who loved
it. Perceptive girl, we agreed to each do a work, of
the same dimensions, with a jellyfish as the common
theme. 'What's the time frame?' she asked. 'Something
by the end of the year?' 'Great,' she said
December
1st (Tuesday)
Great talk with Reanne about art. Described to a
friend of hers the Coke pastel. Was a graphic artist,
liked Coke Zero & was impressed with the idea
Described my 'VW' idea, & she loved it. 'You have so
many ideas,' she said. She has a very impressive
intellect. Later in the afternoon brought her almond
cake, cheese cake, & chocolate
