A remarkable day in the history of the city!
2nd (Tuesday) [Olympic City Centre]
Natalie unimpressed with any sport where you
have to chase something, like hockey. Although
she did watch 'the first part' of the game,
she told me
3rd (Wednesday) [Olympic City Centre]
High five with Reanne this morning. We had two
great discussions about two special weeks that
were. She's looking forward to seeing my 3
'Olympic drawings', especially the one
addressing Donegan. Gave Myle the Mica
keychain, that she attached to her purse
right away. Went to the currency place twice
for her, told her how much we were going to
miss her, & told her to have a good time
She's back April 6. Sunny, cool
4th (Thursday) [Olympic City Centre]
Natalie telling me she got a rather light hug
from Myle a couple of days ago. Described a
TV show called Hoarders, & a woman with a
houseful of cats, in every state from kittens to
rotting kitty corpses
5th (Friday) [Olympic City Centre]
Gave Reanne chocolate & blueberry. Had another
nice discussion, including symbolism in art
Described to her the photo I took of the
'Temple' & what I interpret as the symbolism in
it. Lovely cool, sunny day
6th (Saturday) [Olympic City Centre]
Gave Natalie chocolate & blueberry. Amusing
description of her co-worker, who she calls 'The
Evil One'. Exchanging smiles with that lovely
girl at the nearby counter. I wonder if she
notices how I'm always glancing towards her?
Walking from 32nd to Arbutus. The blossoms were
the loveliest I've ever seen them, in the cool
clear air. Sitting in the warm sun on the
at McD's... Canadian flags being displayed
everywhere in Kerrisdale - store windows,
balconies, cars, & a large one aglow with
sunshine just outside the terrace
7th (Sunday) [Olympic City Centre]
Talked to Baeta for the first time since before
the Olympics. 'Long time no see,' she said to
me. Still thinking I would like to do a portrait
of her. Dark, heavy rain this afternoon &
evening
8th (Monday) [Olympic City Centre]
Watching 'Arizona Dream' at Vesna's this evening
9th (Tuesday) [Olympic City Centre]
Charming Japanese girl at Donbury Ya on Robson
asked me if I had watched Canada/USA. Told her
that what happened after the game was a once in a
lifetime event. The emotion of the event, she
said brought tears to her eyes. Told me she works
noon to five, Monday to Friday
10th (Wednesday) [Olympic City Centre]
Yajing took in the Chinese documentary at the
the Ridge, I suggested to her. Helping her
pronounce & define the word 'intertwined'
Talking with Natalie, got a chance to smile &
say 'Hi' to the girl at the Nars counter
11th (Thursday) [Olympic City Centre]
Teaching Yajing the phrase, 'Who the hell do you
think you are?' Suggesting she could use it on
her former employer upstairs. Dark, rain late
this afternoon
12th (Friday) [Olympic City Centre]
Showed the Japanese girl at Donbury Ya a few
portraits & gave her a set of Fuji prints
Mentioned that I needed a Japanese girl as a
model for a large drawing, & I'm thinking she
would be nice for the part. Charming girl, her
name is Kumiko, from the city of Sendia on the
coastline north of Tokyo. Watched 'Eyes Wide
Shut' tonight with Vesna
13th (Saturday)
Vesna talking about wanting to go to Whistler
next weekend
14th (Sunday)
Talking to Reanne, who hasn't finished the
jellyfish. Suggested she call it 'Jellyfish,
Evolving'. The plan is to bring hers & mine to
the Temple on Saturday. 'Is it okay if I
photograph it?'
17th (Wednesday)
Talking to Reanne, who mentioned that her
fiance liked 'Olympic City Centre', that I
posted on her wall. Down the Rabbit Hole this
evening. Surreal, darkest dark
18th (Thursday)
Ady phoned this afternoon, telling me she's
back at the old Subway, Wednesdays & Thursdays
Sat down with her this evening, showed her 'The
Crucified Artist'. ('You love that girl SO much')
She made me a sub with ham & cheese, & she ate a
large bowl of salad. Watched 'Reds' this evening
with Vesna. Told me she had a dream about
committing suicide, & was disappointed with my
reaction
