19th (Friday)
Gave Kumiko 'Ocean Fuji' & 'The Crucified Artist', which will
probably confuse her. Explaining to Yajing the difference
between the phrases 'Things couldn't be better' & 'Things
could be better'

20th (Saturday)   [Donegan's Olympic Moment]
Describing to Natalie the idea for the Donegan drawing. 'I
don't get it,' she replied, though she said she's looking
forward to seeing it later. Asked if I thought she looked
bigger, other than her stomach. 'No, you look great,' I told
her. Watching 'Amazing Race' with Vesna. Translating Serbian
comments on the photo I took of her in front of the cauldron,
with her country's flag, on Facebook

21st (Sunday)   [Donegan's Olympic Moment]
Took jellyfish pastel to the Temple just after noon. Showed
it to Reanne & Mae, who both reacted very generously. Even
Maggie had a few nice words. It looked surprisingly good
under the harsh white light. Had a great talk with Reanne in
the afternoon, who is going to help me out finding a model
for 'Empress', & with the wardrobe & make-up for her, &
ideas for the pose. Watching 'Amazing Race' at Vesna's. She
weighed in at 147, I was 153 1/2

22nd (Monday)   [Donegan's Olympic Moment]
Sitting on a sofa in The Temple, Reanne showing me her
jellyfish, which was a lovely, delicate, graceful work of
art

23rd (Tuesday)   [Donegan's Olympic Moment]
Natalie off sick, Taco Tuesday postponed

24th (Wednesday)   [Donegan's Olympic Moment]
Natalie describing how she prepares her breakfast of baked
potatoes, bacon, & beans. Told me the baby kicked her twice
as she talked to me. Facebook from Reanne saying I could
keep the jellyfish as long as I wanted

25th (Thursday)   [Donegan's Olympic Moment]
Dark, heavy rain this morning. Bought Natalie some Lindt
milk chocolate, which was her favourite, & Myle's too she
told me. Talking to Baeta about the Korean skater at the
Olympics. 'We're very proud of her,' she told me, and
she almost cried (like Kumiko) after the hockey game. She
looked good in a military style jacket, & a short B&W
plaid skirt. Japanese girl at Donbury from Osaka; & quite
nice too. Vesna laughing as I described the drawing to
her over the phone

26th (Friday)   [Donegan's Olympic Moment]
Short, pleasant chat wiwth girl from Osaka

27th (Saturday)   [Donegan's Olympic Moment]
'A Hard Day's Night' this evening, at Vesna's. Classic
movie

Heavy rain off & on, on the way to Abbotsford, winter's
branches, here & there, becoming touched with green

29th (Monday)   [Donegan's Olympic Moment]
Strange day of weather, alternating between dark with heavy
rain & periods of brightness with sunshine

30th (Tuesday)   [Donegan's Olympic Moment]

31st (Wednesday)   [Donegan's Olympic Moment]
Returned the jellyfish drawing to Reanne, who admired how
neatly I wrapped it. A good conversation about art, joined
by an intriguing new Oriental girl. Who admires Van Gogh,
& is interested in quantum mechanics. Warm in the sunshine,
cool in the shade this afternoon

April
1st (Thursday)   [Donegan's Olympic Moment]
Gave girl from Osaka a set of the Fuji prints. One of the
few Japanese girls I've met who's familiar with all three
of the artists Hokusai, Hiroshige, & Utamaro. Explained
to Yajing the difference between 'interest' & 'interesting'
Heavy rain on the roof of the Market, which was somehow
stimulating to hear

Watched 'The Beatles First U.S. Visit' with Vesna, who
seems to like Ringo, 'a lot'. Strong winds

3rd (Saturday)   [Donegan's Olympic Moment]
Reanne suffering from a bad toothache. Telling me how she's
intrigued by the winged horse Pegasus. I suggested she
start a drawing, & make an appointment with the dentist too

4th (Easter Sunday)

5th (Monday)   [Donegan's Olympic Moment]
Quite chilly, mostly overcast

6th (Tuesday)   [Donegan's Olympic Moment]
Taking to Mae, who told me she was a singer in the Chinese
Army, & how it gave her an inner strength & independence

7th (Wednesday)   [Donegan's Olympic Moment]
Myle back from Hong Kong! So good to see her again. Had a
wonderful conversation with the new Oriental girl, discussing
art. Told me she had a strong urge to start drawing again, &
I encouraged her to consider doing a jellyfish as a beginning
Her name is Iram Lin, from Taiwan. Down the Rabbit Hole
Heavy rain

8th (Thursday)   [Donegan's Olympic Moment]
Asked Myle if she wanted hot water. No, she said, but...
'Not more money!' She was hungry of course. So I bought
her greek salad. Mae looking very charming in black, with
a lovely scarf arranged around her neck. Cold, with strong
winds. The look on Yajing's face when I told her Myle had
purchased 19 pairs of shoes. Priceless

9th (Friday)   [Donegan's Olympic Moment]
Myle with a small bag of gifts she brought back from Hong
Kong. Told me not to tell her co-workers because she didn't
bring them anything. 'When I saw this it reminded me of you,'
she said, unfolding a large yellow chicken. Priceless
Reanne telling me she's working on a drawing composed of
small dots, & Iram saying she started drawing last night
I gave her a photo of 'Emotions' as a sort of inspiration,
and that I had a book on Einstein that I'd show to her. A
very mystical woman. Watched 'Help!' this evening, with
Vesna. Clear, but windy, & cold

10th (Saturday)
Phoned Myle at 7:30 this morning, from bed. Told me it was
her Father's birthday today, & that she was taking gifts to
the cemetery later today or tomorrow

11th (Sunday)
Laid the groundwork this morning for doing a portrait of
Iram. Described my idea for 'The Politics of the Mind',
which she said gave her goosebumps. Red-haired girl at
Market Place describing a mask she was making. Gave her
the website card, & I'm thinking if she wouldn't be right for
'Reefer Girl'. Sunny, comfortably warm, alternating with
comfortable cool. West End streets blossoming in strong
pinks, and light greens

12th (Monday)
Wave to Iram, who was on the phone: then talking to Myle
talking to Myle & Maggie: then talking to Iram, who said
okay to the portrait: then Sinclair: then Food Fair &
Greek salad for Myle: then talking to Reanne, who told me
some silly co-worker had thrown out her jellyfish. She was
impressively composed about it
