7th (Saturday)
Canuck talk with Reanne. Described the Lord Stanley
statue to her, & that if the team were to win, a
replica Stanley Cup might fit nicely between the
outstretched arms. Myle her charming best this
morning. Bought her some candy, and waved to the
(SFU) Korean girl as I left the store. Korean girl
at Naru outside cleaning the windows. Nice little
chat with her as a heavy rain began to fall, which
turned into a hail shower. Her name is something
like 'Hyelin'. Exchanging some cute little texts
with Myle this evening

8th (Sunday)
Sorting & cleaning up various things today,
before starting the portrait tomorrow

9th (Monday)   [Portrait of Kaori Magario]
Texted Myle after the game. 'Canucks win!!!!'
'OMG!' she replied a few minutes later

10th (Tuesday)   [Portrait of Kaori Magario]
Aili at Donbury this afternoon. Should consider
asking if she'd help out with 'Empress'. She has
the most beautiful eyes. Told me about going to
Seattle to watch Ichiro, & that her favourite drink
was a martini

11th (Wednesday)   [Portrit of Kaori Magario]
High fives & hockey talk with Reanne. Bought Myle
salt & vinegar chips. Wanted me to help her finish
the little poem for her nephew, but didn't call back
later in the evening. Talking to Kaori, who wondered
when the portrait would be finished. Outside it was
quite dark & raining. Natalie working at Oakridge
tomorrow. Not bothered about Agnes Chow. 'It doesn't
matter,' she said. 'She's behind the counter, & all
I can see is the top of her head moving back & forth.'
Woman with lovely long legs, striding into Hotel Van

12th (Thursday)   [Portrait of Kaori Magario]
Morning sunshine for 5 minutes or so through a
sudden downpour of rain

13th (Friday)   [Portrait of Kaori Magario]
Myle telling me she's up to 'One hundred & nine...
point six.' & that she started crying when she got
home. Talking to Reanne, who looked great wearing a
small cap, with a loose braid over one shoulder
Stopped by Ebi Ten, & gave Sachiyo some dark
chocolate. Told me her favourite sport in school
was handball, & that she liked playing basketball as
well

14th (Saturday)   [Portrait of Kaori Magario]
'You're dressed up,' said Myle, as I came up to the
counter. Wondered where I was going. Said she had a
bad afternoon Friday. 'I texted you yesterday,' she
told me. Gave Reanne the photo of Lord Stanley I
worked on Photoshop. She wants to go down with a
Canuck jersey and pay homage. Told her I'd draw a
map so she could find it. 'By the way,' she said, 'I
like what you're wearing.' Cool, darkish, light rain
From Sea Island the snow on the mtns shimmering
white

Nice hockey result from Rogers Arena, Canucks 3/
Sharks 2. Finale of 'Survivor'

Myle somewhat sombre this morning, disenchanted with
Sears management. Reanne telling me Orcas were
spotted in Burrard Inlet, which we agreed was a good
omen. Kaori's lovely smile & charm, while outside it
continued cold & damp

17th (Tuesday)   [Portrait of Kaori Magario]
Myle in a better frame of mind, counting off the days
until her operation. Gave Reanne a Google Earth print
of the entrance to Stanley Park, with the statue of
the Lord Stanley statue circled in green

18th (Wednesday)   [Portrait of Kaori Magario]
Canuck roster talk with Reanne. Myle saying
she'd bring me some salmon on Sunday. Discussing
the portrait, the Stanley Cup, & Sapporo beer with

Kaori. Hope I didn't estrange Aili who disappeared
in the back somewhere as we were talking
Canucks7/Sharks 3. Texted Myle after every Van
goal

19th (Thursday)
Surprised when the girl at Starbucks told me was
Japanese, from northern Honshu. The weather:
perfect warmth in the sun, perfect coolness in
the shade. More lovely conversation with Natalie,
who didn't speak to Agnes Chow at Oakridge, &
told me A.G. wore a padded bra & had hair
extensions. 'But just a few of them!' Agnes
protested

22nd (Sunday)
Myle giving me two large chunks of salmon. Gave
Reanne right hand high five & a little squeeze, a
half hour before noon. 'See you later hun,' she
said, & gave me a little pastry to eat for the
game. Texted Myle every time Van scored in San
Jose. Final score : Canucks 4/Sharks 2
