Trish for the portrait, then gave her a
little math quiz, including examples of
long division. Claimed she didn't
understand math, but seemed to get the
answers

Remarkable end to Titans/Bills football
Ho Im slicing celery sticks, complaining
about having an upset stomach, when
Monica comes up, nudges me, & the banter
begins. Wearing this hilarious blue
apron

carpet of slush on Pender, & sticking to
women's hair as they hurried along

Late this afternoon, wet snow, rain,
flash of lightening, & thunder near
Barclay Grocery. Over an hour with Betty
trying to figure out & explain how her
new camera works. Came out to find a
storm cell had come & gone, dropping a
fair amount of snow, with lightening,
power outages, & traffic chaos across
the Lower Mainland

Finally talked to Oriental girl at
library, whose name is Goretti. Told me
she was named after a Christian saint
Was wearing a beautiful blue shirt
Loaned Ho Im 'Bananas'. Kept telling me
how sleepy she was. Showed her Rosseau's
'Baby's Party'. Looked at it with a
blank stare, then said, 'I don't know
what to say.'
18th (Tuesday) [Portrait of Trish]
Met Donna at the library! Still living
in NY, working in Manhatten. Showed me
her photos of Jerusalem, which she
visited over Xmas. Might contribute some
text for the 'Stardust' book
19th (Wednesday) [Portrait of Trish]
Lorane visited today. Had sausage & eggs
at Burrard Motor Hotel & then showed her
the 10 large drawings. Many good
observations. Remarked about 'Debutante'
being 'lost in her own vanity'

Took photos of Goretti on Hamilton, for
a future portrait. Charming personality
Finally got through to Trish, who was
excited about the portrait being nearly
finished. 'You have to call me the
moment you put down the brush'

Lighthouse Park this afternoon. The
winter hummingbird was there in its
usual tree. A lovely, cool, sunny
afternoon. Strange women on the bus
crossing Lions Gate. 2 girls in the
side seat, one with a skateboard &
a 'Gilligan' hat kissing the girl next
to her gently on the lips. Another
girl on the back seat, beautiful face
with killer eyes & mouth. A deep
crimson sunset through one window,
sparkling downtown skyline through
the other
