18th (Tuesday)
Showed Persia 'Emotions' & 'Urban Desert'
Liked 'Urban' better she said, because it
had more emotion. Told me if I had an
exhibition she wanted to see it. Told her
she would look good in a portrait. 'Sure,
I'll pose for you.' As I was leaving, she
said, 'See you hon.'

19th (Wednesday)
Talked to Cynthia at 2North. Gave her a
photo of 'Emotions'. She started to say
how it reflected her situation, reaching
out to a 'deadly poisonous' jellyfish,
but I stupidly interupted her, & she
couldn't finish the thought. Shari asks
Tim Berlin to leave her apt, taking his
guitar with him. Sitting with Heather
outside Starbucks, Hornby, talking about
movies, novels, & bowling at the
Commodore. Idea for a drawing with light
coming through a single window & a maze
of stairs & landings. A rainy evening

20th (Thursday)   [Marathon Pastel]
Visited Cynthia at 2North. Told me she
carries the photo of 'Emotions' around
with her, & wants to go for tea & have
art lessons. She's quite sweet & gentle
Showed Persia 'Destiny' & '7-Up'. Was
surprised at the enthusiastic response
to the later. She gets it. Was wearing
black-rimmed glasses. Her eyes are okay,
she wears them sometimes she says, to
put space between herself & the public
Meeting her next week for photos. An
intriguing girl

21st (Friday)   [Marathon Pastel]
...With the help of a tourist
map, was given a detailed
description of points of
interest, & a little history,
of south-western Korea, by
Hye Ryeon

24th (Monday)   [Marathon Pastel]
Cynthia was distracted &
worried when I dropped in
Supposed to see her on
Thursday. Talking to a girl &
guy, 19 or so, on the seawall
Told me they were doing an
'unofficial survey'. The
topic was religion. An
enjoyable little conversation,
they were both very likeable
Just missed Becky (again) at
the elevator again. Showing
Heather the last portrait
(Roula) in the hallway

25th (Tuesday)   [Marathon Pastel]
Said 'Hi! How are you?' to
the red-haired girl, who
would be perfect for 'The
Burial of Karl Marx'. Persia
looked beautiful this
afternoon. Cold & clear again

26th (Wednesday)   [Marathon Pastel]
Photographs of Persia, in the
parking lot at Capers

27th (Thursday)   [Marathon Pastel]
Went to Fresgo's with Cynthia
Shari was there, naturally,
with a sullen patient from
2North, saying a prayer over a
small banquet of fast food. C
reading a poem, & flashing a
charming smile

28th (Friday)   [Marathon Pastel]
Showed red-haired girl,
whose name is Ann,
'Unforgettable Fire' &
'Wedding Portrait'. She
does abstract art & her
comments were intelligent
Prefered 'Wedding Portrait'
because there was more to
figure out & read into,
she said

March
1st (Saturday)   [Marathon Pastel]
Showed Heather the photos
of Persia. Her opinions were
more or less the same as
mine. She described one as
being 'romantic', one 'impish',
liked the one where she's
looking down, but thought it
was a waste not to see her
pretty eyes. Holly with
blonde hair

2nd (Sunday)   [Marathon Pastel]
Talked to Sonya this morning
That WAS her in the tv
commercial. She said it
would be okay to do a
portrait of her. 'Girl from
Bombay' is on for the
spring. Met Becky on
Burrard, & 'Girl from Red
Deer' is definitely off
Cherry blossoms in the West
End were lovely, under dark
grey skies

3rd (Monday)   [Marathon Pastel]
First walk through Shaughnessy
to White Spot. Clear skies,
perfectly cool, trees along
the boulevards half-filled
with white blossoms

4th (Tuesday)   [Marathon Pastel]
Emails from Nayeon & Michie
Most of the afternoon doing
laundry & talking to Heather,
who is something of a
cleaning expert, washing
whites, mediums & darks
seperately. Loaned me her
'Tom Jones' video, loaned her
'Blade Runner'. Bio of Eva
Braun this evening
