Heavy morning rain, again. In the
afternoon, skies partially clear,
branches of the trees, some almost
bare of leaves, in elegant
silhouette against greys & blues
of the sky. Trees along Burnaby,
near Burrard, a lovely warm glow
of 'orange' light in the deepening
gloom

Dark, rainy this morning. Inside
the Temple a soft, radiant glow of
light. Said to Myle, 'I could do
such a great portrait of you on
smooth paper.' She thought for a
moment, & replied, 'Did I tell you
I bought three pairs of shoes?'
She needed water, so I went back
into the rain to get her some
from across the street

12th (Sunday)
Dark, heavy rain
13th (Monday)
A little Math review at UBC Student

Banks as the sun was setting. Image
of waves coming in on the shore, the
water sparkling in whites & golds as
it broke over the rocks
15th (Wednesday)
Dark stormy, with heavy rain & wind
Inside the Temple, a lovely soft
clean light. Myle, telling me how she
sold over 50 tickets yesterday to beat
a girl at Anna Sui. 'You know. How I
always have to win?' Asked if I
could bring her two hot waters
Told me how she'd worked 10 hrs two
days in a row, & how tired she was
That she'd had a headache. She
paused a little & then told me she
had her period yesterday. Said to
her I'd like to do a portrait of
her when she was tired. 'You're
beautiful when you're tired.' She
replied, 'You're so funny.' Lovely
Korean women, upstairs at Market
Downstairs a lovely Japanese girl
working at the flower shop
Magical sky, Sunset Beach at dusk

Standing in line at the library,
talking with an intriguing
girl, from Singapore. Saying 'Hi'
to Songbird

turbid water. Ordered to 'Stop
immediately.' Told me it was full
of bacteria, & that it smelled
'disgusting'

Said hello to Ady this morning on
the way downtown. Asked how things
were going with Myle, Minori, etc
& told me she'd pray for me
21st (Tuesday)
More cleaning & research. Hong Kong
girl noticing & remarking on my army
jacket, which seems to catch the eye
(for some reason) of the Chinese
girls there. (Kathy & Yun Qin)
22nd (Wednesday)
Bacon cheeseburger at a small cafe
across from Oppenheimer Park with a
B&W Audry H looking down on us
Heather had a chocolate milkshake
& some sort of sandwich. Weigh in
at the old scale, Army & Navy
Found Jung at a bookstore, Hastings
We had a good laugh. Dark at three,
& then heavy rains

Shari on the phone with more
warnings against drinking the
water. Tells me it smells like
something between 'cabbage &
swamp'

Shari at Sinclair. Thinks I
look like 'GI Joe'. Shari here,
sending dog photo emails
Insisted I lock her in the apt
when I went downstairs. Laughed
at the Colt Pastel
