1st (Monday)
Met Chihiro! Upstairs at Robson Market
Was living the last 7 years in London,
England. Didn't like it. Sitting with
her, & her friend from Yokohama
Showed Armita 'Seduction'. Asked her to
think 'metaphor' when she was looking
at it. Met Lynda G. outside Safeway
She has a good artistic mind. Plan to
get together sometime in the summer
Sorting out ideas for the next pastel

2nd (Tuesday)   [Bank of Montreal Pastel]
'London Girl' having a cigarette &
orange in front of Emily Carr. Kept
apologizing from the smoke from her
cig & asked if I wanted a piece of
her orange. Described what she was
working on, an image of a fetus in a
teardrop, in blues & pinks. Showed
her some of the drawing, & the idea
for the 'Dylan' pastel. Left me
impressed with her intelligence &
perception. Her name is Karanza

3rd (Wednesday)   [Bank of Montreal Pastel]
Showed Sheila the portrait in the
lobby of the Burrard Bldg. Was quite
pleased with it. Told me she had a
couple of portraits done in India,
but they 'didn't look like me!'
Bizarre weather today, thundershower
with lightening about 2:30, & then
sunny an hour later, then windy &
rainy again an hour after that
Asked girl at Fresgo's if she spoke
Spanish. Her grandmother did. She's
mostly Filipino, she said. Told her
I needed a photo of a girl behind a
cash register for a drawing. 'I
don't mind,' she said. Told me she
took 3 years of art courses

4th (Thursday)   [Bank of Montreal Pastel]
Math Work, UBC   Met Lori at
Main Library. Showed her 'F.H. Lady',
'Maiden', 'F. Girl', & 'Urban'
Picked 'Maiden' saying she thought it
was 'mysterious'. Especially amused
by the groom. Asked if she wanted a
portrait of herself. I said I thought
her face had 'a nice charm'. Had an
I.D. pinned to her shirt, with a
name that looked very Italian. The
girl was charming, again
