Hi Fran, sorry for the
delay sending you the
pics but I was totally
distracted this
weekend working on a
series of prints titled
Darkly Satanic Mills
(images from within),
satanic mills being a
metaphor for the
Internet They have a
sort of clockwork
orange feel to them...
[No apologies needed
Richard, I'm just so
happy when you send
them to me please
could you send me the
Darkly Satanic Mills
series when you're
finished it? I'm really
excited to check it out,
I just know it will be
very edgy and will stir
up my emotions!]
Mar 30
...Was
going to email you stuff
today but I made the
mistake of starting
work on the Satanic
Mill prints first thing
this morning & before I
knew it's 3 o'clock and
I'm totally burned out :(
Promise to send
tomorrow (morning) for
sure btw will definitely
share those prints with
you when they're done
Think Andrew Wyeth
meets Quentin
Tarantino Take care,
sending you lots of love
& light
[Don't worry about not
sending me art on time
it's all good, I know
you're very busy. Btw
have you heard about
the digital art selling
online for lots of
money?
Sending you lots of
love and light too!]

Hi Fran, so this is the
cover print of the
Darkly Satanic Mills
series I'll send the
whole set to your email
in a few days, but I'm a
little concerned how
the reaction to these
will be, and I'll totally
trust your judgement
on whether or not I
should put them on the
website
[Richard I adore the
cover, it's right up my
alley!!! I really love the
ghostly girl looking at
the building. You've
made the building feel
very spooky and erie. I
cannot wait to see the
rest of the artwork!!]

I'm guessing a lot of people would take these images
in a bad sort of way. But it's pretty obvious that this
stuff is consensual, a kind of erotic fantasty. I'm hoping
you can open the two webpages I sent, that are opposite
the first two prints. There are two definitions there & a
glossary, copied from the internet, that pretty much
define what this is all about. [A few years back, in an
old house just around the corner on Hornby, there was
a place called the Dominatrix Dungeon. They even had
business cards in a little box on the fence. The dungeon
has been replaced by a 60 storey monstrosity of condos...
with a car dealership thrown in :( ]
I'm hoping a lot of people will see there's a lot here
metaphorically speaking. Just the fact that these
prints were put together from images taken from the
internet, is symbolic in itself
And I'm guessing a lot of people will think the title Darkly
Satanic Mills was taken from BDSM, but actually the
opposite happened. There was a song by Sting with the
lines 'the dark satanic mills have made redundant all
our mining skills...' That phrase always evoked
images for me! I wanted to number each print, but I
didn't want the full title on each print. Too much text is
a distraction. Then I remembered there was an acronym
used with a lot of the stuff on the internet. I hadn't paid a
lot of attention to it, but when I checked it out I noticed
the DSM in the acronym, which was an odd coincidence
Anyway, I'll defer to your judgement whether to leave
these on the main part of the website, or banish them
to the Gallery Basement.
The next work I do will be a lot less controversial.
It's a little watercolour of the Seymour River estuary
with a railway bridge & a couple of mallard ducks
paddling around. Hope I haven't lost my mojo!!
[This is very brilliant and extremely controversial so naturally I love
the series!
My favourite piece out of all of them is 26. I love the look in her eyes
and the emotion she's sending out. I especially love the expansive factory
background with the light shining thru the windows, it's erie and shows
how vast and dark the factory is.
I adore the backgrounds and surrounding art.
The definitions are perfect.
Thinking about the Sting song and the pictures makes me ponder the
repurposing of Mills for Dominatrix. Nothing is wasted.
Above Cottonmouth there was a very busy Dominatrix, we had to crank the
music to cover the cries and clanking of chains lol.
I love the acronym it's genius! This collection would sell for a lot of money
online.
Really stunning and provocative work, you certainly have not lost your
touch Richard!]
